Abstract: This paper discusses the diversity of automotive wiring harness tapes in depth, covering the materials, characteristics, and applicable working environments of different types of tapes.
The tapes widely used in automotive wiring harnesses have multiple functions, including bundling wires, protecting wires, constructing insulation layer, realizing sound absorption and noise reduction, marking and labeling, and providing fixing support. With the continuous development of the automotive industry and the improvement of design concepts, the demand for wiring harness strand tapes in different functional areas and the requirements for tape performance show a diversified trend. As a result, a variety of tapes with unique styles and material properties have emerged throughout the automotive industry, providing strong support for the protection and performance enhancement of automotive wiring harnesses.
According to the material and characteristics of the commonly used tape is broadly divided into three categories: PVC tape; cloth-based tape; foam tape.
1. PVC Tape
PVC tape is known as polyvinyl chloride electrical insulation pressure-sensitive adhesive tape, its substrate for the soft PVC film, adhesive for natural rubber, acrylic rubber, synthetic rubber, etc. for the main material of the adhesive layer, PVC tape has a good temperature resistance, cold resistance, corrosion resistance, oil resistance, flame retardant and other characteristics.
The specifications of PVC tape are generally 8×10, 10×10, 12×10, 19×20, 38×20, and the standard thickness of the tape is generally 0.12mm, 0.15mm, 0.2mm, 0.25mm and so on.
PVC adhesive tapes have different working temperature ranges due to different auxiliary ingredients. Commonly used PVC adhesive tapes have three ambient temperature ranges: -40~85℃, -40~105℃, -40~135℃ (special).
2. Cloth-Based Tape
Commonly used cloth-based tape has the following types: acetate cloth-based tape; PET cloth tape; PET fleece tape; PET cloth Sleeve tape; non-adhesive cloth-based tape and so on. Cloth-based tape is not flame retardant, the color of commonly used cloth-based tape is black, the common specifications of cloth-based tape are generally 20×25, 40×25, etc., and the thickness of the tape is generally 0.25~0.8mm.
2.1 Acetate Cloth-Based Tape
Acetate cloth-based adhesive tape base material for the acetate cloth, adhesive for thermosetting rubber composition, with high adhesive properties, excellent absorption of electrical, insulating resins and varnishes. Hand can be torn, good flexibility, fatigue resistance in general, oil resistance in general, not corrosion resistance, suitable for the working temperature range is -40 ~ 105 ℃, tape thickness is generally 0.25mm.
2.2 PET Cloth Tape
PET cloth tape base material for oil resistance of high quality polyvinyl acetate fabric base, adhesive for acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive. It has the characteristics of high strength and not easy to tear, high adhesive performance, corrosion resistance, oil resistance, high temperature resistance, abrasion resistance, aging resistance, good flexibility, etc. The working temperature range is -40~150℃, and the thickness of the tape is generally 0.25mm.
2.3 PET Fleece Tape
PET fleece tape base material is PET fleece, adhesive is acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive. It has the properties of high adhesion, high noise reduction, very good flexibility, oil resistance, aging resistance and wear resistance. Due to the different additional ingredients of the base material, the working temperature range of the tape is generally:-40~125℃. The thickness of the tape is generally 0.3~0.8mm.
2.4 PET Cloth Sleeve Tape
PET cloth Sleeve tape base material is PET fabric, adhesive with acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, with acrylic adhesive strips along the length on both sides of the cuff. It has very good high noise reduction, flexibility and abrasion resistance, and is applied to longer wire harnesses for convenience and high efficiency. Its working temperature range is generally: -40~150℃. Standard length: 50 m, supports most width and length combinations, customized penetration solutions.
2.5 Non-Adhesive Fabric Base Tape
The material of non-adhesive cloth-based tape is velvet, there is no adhesive on the tape, with high noise reduction, good flexibility, aging resistance, wear resistance and other properties. Its working temperature range is generally -40~130℃.
3. Sponge Tape
3.1 Conventional Foam Tape
Conventional sponge tape for automotive wiring harness is made of high-density flame-retardant foam as the base material, coated with special pressure-sensitive adhesive after technical treatment, shock-absorbing and noise-reducing, easy to tear.
3.2 Polyurethane Foam Tape
The base material is polyether polyol and binary, ternary organic isocyanic acid vinegar, adhesive for polyacrylic acid vinegar pressure-sensitive adhesive, the thickness is generally 2~5 mm, good sound insulation, sound-absorbing properties, vibration damping, noise reduction, and good water resistance, good low-temperature resistance, good flame retardant properties, anti-bacterial, good anti-aging, strong impact resistance, aging resistance, and good extensibility.
3.3 Fleece Foam Tape
Fleece Foam tape base material is fleece and foam, adhesive is pressure sensitive adhesive, shock absorption and noise reduction, heat insulation performance is good, abrasion resistance is better than ordinary sponge tape.
